About the directory's data

Sources, dates and labels in the ALCBar Lawyer Directory

The ALCBar Lawyer Directory lists lawyers from public licensing records. This page explains where each kind of information comes from, how current it is, and what has and has not been verified, so that people and software reading a profile can tell facts from unconfirmed details.

Source of California listings

California listings were copied from State Bar of California public records no later than June 3, 2026 (exact collection date not recorded). Each profile links to the lawyer's official State Bar of California record, which is the authority on license status.

Who is listed

Only lawyers whose license status was Active in those records. Lawyers shown as inactive, resigned, disbarred, deceased or not eligible are not listed.

How current the information is

License status has not been re-checked against the State Bar since. Each profile has a "Status last verified" line: it shows a date only when ALCBar has re-checked that lawyer against the State Bar record, and otherwise says the status is not yet verified. Before you hire a lawyer, confirm the license on the State Bar lawyer search.

When information is missing, the profile says "Not stated in the source". That means the directory has no information, not that the answer is no.

Evidence labels for matter experience

  • Reported by the lawyer: submitted by the lawyer, not checked against a source.
  • Source linked: a public source is linked; the lawyer's role and the result are not yet confirmed.
  • Role confirmed: a court, docket or agency record shows the lawyer's role.
  • Result confirmed: a court, docket or agency record shows the stated result.
  • Reviewed by ALCBar: ALCBar compared the claim with the linked sources.
  • Disputed: someone asked for a correction; the item is shown with this label and is not used to match lawyers.
  • Rejected or withdrawn: never shown.

Appearing in a case does not mean the case was won. Results are shown only when a result has its own evidence.

Coverage

The California list does not yet include every active California lawyer. Other states are not listed yet.

Order of results

Lists are sorted by last name, then first name. No one pays to appear in the directory or to rank higher.

Claims, corrections and removal

Lawyers can claim a profile from the button on the profile page. Corrections and removal requests go through the request form or the contact page. A person reviews each request.
